Required Vaccinations

The following vaccines are required to be up to date the day that services are rendered including:

Canine

Feline

Rabies
Bordetella
Distemper
Parvovirus
Parainfluenza
Hepatitis
* Canine Influenza H3N8 H3N3 is required for Boarding as well.

Rabies
Feline Rhinotracheitis
Calicivirus
Panleukopenia (FVRCP)

Hospital Policies

Prescription Medications

All patients must have seen the doctor in the last 12 months to receive prescription medications. Some medications may require regular blood work for continued use. I.e. Heartworm prevention requires an annual heartworm test.

Rabies

All pets coming in for elective procedures must maintain a current rabies vaccination. Animal Medical Salado reserves the right to refuse services if your pet is not current on their rabies vaccine. The administration of a Rabies vaccine requires a doctor examination.

External Parasites

Any animals staying in the clinic for services are required to be free of infectious external parasites. If fleas or ticks are found on your pet it will be documented and your pet will be treated at your expense.

Boarding Reservations

In order to confirm your boarding reservation your pet must be up to date on their vaccines. If no vaccine information can be provided we reserve the right to cancel your reservation and give the slot to the next customer. You may be asked to put a credit card on file to reserve your reservation.

Pet-Taxi

Pets who ride in our pet taxi are kept comfortable in a private air conditioned kennel. All kennels are secured inside our van and our drivers have excellent driving records and are committed to safety. If a pet is known to have car anxiety we ask that you let us know ahead of time to make their trip as short as possible. The taxi service is not available Sunday and is only allowed Saturday on a limited basis due to the short workday.

Personal Items

Animal Medical Salado is NOT responsible for lost, chewed or broken personal items that are left with pet i.e. blankets, beds, toys etc. We will try to inform you if your pet is displaying destructive behavior and remove the item to prevent problems.

Sickness Displayed While Boarding

Our staff works hard to keep your pet happy and healthy during their stay. If abnormal behavior is displayed during their boarding stay we will give you a call at the number provided. Treatment will not be administered without the owners consent unless there is a life threatening situation. Please let us know ahead of time if your pet has special needs.

Appointment Cancellations

We ask that you give us 48 hours notice for cancellation of boarding reservations and 24 hours notice for grooming and veterinary visits. Last minute cancellations may result in a 20% cancellation fee.

Found Pets

If an animal is found we would be happy to scan them for a microchip and help you find their owner. We cannot hold them in the clinic for any length of time without a responsible party. We can direct you to the nearest animal shelter.

Found Wildlife

We recommend leaving baby wildlife where you find them. In most situations it is best not to remove babies from their habitat. If you find a injured or suffering animal we will provide emergency assistance to the best of our ability.

Aggressive Animals

If you know that your pet is aggressive or extremely anxious/scared please let us know so that we can better assist you. In some cases it may be necessary to sedate pets for routine exams, nail trims, grooms for the safety of your pet and our staff. Extremely aggressive animals may not be eligible for boarding services.

Payment methods

Unless previously signed and agreed upon, all payment is due at time of services. We accept cash, AMEX, MC, AMEX, and care credit. We do not accept checks or defer payments. You are responsible for all charges incurred by your pet during its stay in the clinic.

Clinic Behavior

Animal Medical Salado is committed to being a safe discrimination free work environment. If a client behaves in a rude, prejudices, or aggressive manner towards any staff member they will be asked to leave the premises. In situations of gross mis-behavior they will not be allowed to return for services.
